Relationship with God

In the Old Testament, God called the nation of Israel His people and His Children, Hosea11:1, Exodus4:22, God expressed a Fatherhood relationship to them, but they were so covered in their sins that they did not see God nor did they come to Him as a Father, rather they saw God as God of their fathers.  Since there was no established relationship with God, they could not call God their father.

In the New Testament relationship with God is not borne out of self-righteousness ‘work’, Eph 2:9 “nor of works lest any man should boost”, it is born out of faith in Jesus Christ. Relationship with God is borne out of faith in God Rom10:17 “so faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God”, being guided by the word of God.  By faith in Jesus Christ, we believe in the existence of God. Faith is the evidence of things not seen and without faith we cannot please God, Heb11:6.  

1 John 4:10 “in this is Love, not that we love God, but God loved us”, john3:16 “For God so love the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him would not perish, but have everlasting life”. God sent His Son to be the bridge in bringing humanity back to Himself, for this cause, Jesus died in our place, He paid the penalty for our sins and paved a way for us with God, He translated us into His kingdom and gave us the seal of ownership ”The Holy Spirit”.

Jesus did not only die for our sins, He rose for our justification, and we obtained Eternal Salvation: a life with God forever. Now we can call God our Father and God can call and refer to us as sons. 1 John 5:13 “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life”. God has forgiven our sins, past present and future. He made us alive in Him because He wants to be involved in everything we do and also wants us to fellowship with Him.

We need to know that God loves us and He wants to have a personal relationship with us. This was God’s plan from creation; that was why He created man in His image, in His likeness and for the pleasure of His will, Gen 1:26, Rev 4:11. It was because of this, God redeemed man.

Excerpt : Relationships and Sex

When sex is dirty Lusts are destructive to man’s soul. Galatians 5:19, “now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these, adultery fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness”. Don’t give yourself up to the indulgence of sensual appetite, or to the soft pleasures of the soul.  Bible encourages us not to be conformed to this world, but we should be transformed by the renewing of our minds and also to set aside every weight that easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Rom12:2, Heb12:1.
